Over $2500 Raised

The Orono Spartans continued their strong season as they took on the Delano Tigers in its annual “I Heart Hockey” fundraising event on Tuesday, January 30, in what was a typical grind-it-out crosstown rivalry.  This year the boys selected The Pay It Forward Fund as the designated charity.  The Pay It Forward Fund is a non-profit organization that helps Minnesota Patients pay their bills while they undergo treatment for breast and women’s cancers.  They pay basic living expenses, so patients can focus on what’s really important – getting healthy.

The fund was started in 2005 by Michelle Morey of Orono, a breast cancer survivor, and her husband Scott Bissen.  Their son, Ben Bissen is one of the managers for the hockey team this year. The Pay It Forward Fund is a Fund of the Ridgeview Foundation and they help patients in need who are being treated at one of 13 area hospitals that we have partnered with to provide assistance.   The Pay It Forward Fund pays out over $300,000 in assistance each year and has paid over $2.2 million dollars since it started and has assisted over 1950 Recipients.

The fundraiser donated over $ 2,500.00 to the fund.
